• Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 Youth to subject the helmet chin guard to more demanding conditions than the homologation standard; to meet Alpinestars’ new standards, both the shell thickness and chin guard design structure have been optimized to provide superior impact performance.
• Equipped with an Emergency Release System and removable cheek pads that allow for safe and easy removal of the cheek pads while the helmet is still on.
• Stainless steel D-rings ensure a secure and firm fit.
• The SM3 helmet meets both DOT certification and ECE 22.06 approval for use worldwide.
• The multi-density inner liner ensures the helmet has the right density in the correct areas to improve impact absorption, as well as helping to reduce total weight.
• The inside and outside surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts.
• A patented Alpinestars low-friction coating is applied to the inner part of the main EPS liner to reduce rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a slip plane that mimics the brain’s natural low-friction cerebrospinal fluid, the body’s natural defense against oblique impacts.

• Dedicated shell versions: features independent versions for DOT and ECE requirements, ensuring construction is adapted to each homologation; in the DOT version, the inner shell incorporates a composite fiber assembled between the outer shell and the EPS liner.
• Customizable fit: the helmet can be precisely adapted to the rider’s head using Crown Pads and Cheek Pads available as spare parts in different thicknesses, for a more precise and lasting fit.
• Evolutionary sizing system: Youth Medium (YM) and Youth Large (YL) sizes share the same EPS size, allowing a rider who uses YM to later configure the helmet as Youth Large as they grow, by using replacement Crown Pads and Cheek Pads.
• Youth-specific fit: Youth Small (YS) size uses a smaller EPS size and can only be customized by using Cheek Pads, offering a dedicated fit for very young riders, usually aged 3 to 4 years.
